Grade 3:

Grade 2: 

• Ready New York math workbook pages 60-61, 124-125, 184-185. Answer problems in the workbook.

Grade 4 Announcements

• Easter break begins Friday, March 27 after dismissal at 3:00 p.m.  We will be celebrating Easter in our classroom.  Families are asked to please provide $3.00 for each student toward pizza.  You may bring snacks, beverages, and of-course Easter treats to share with the class, if you are able.

• Class-room clean-up. It is "spring" or "Easter" cleaning this week. Students need to bring in a strong plastic bag to organize and store personal books and items that will remain in class. 

• Easter Break assignments. Assignments will be distributed or posted by Thursday,m March 26 and will be due on the first day back from break.

1. Habitat: a place where plants and animals meet their needs

2. communicate: to share ideas or concerns with others

3. migrate: to move to another place for food or warmth

4. hibernate: to sleep for a long period of time

week-3 and 4

1. woodland forest: a habitat that gets enough rain and sunlight for trees to grow well

2. rain forest: a habitat where it rains almost every day

3. desert: a very dry habitat

4. arctic: a habitat that is very cold and near the north pole.

week-5 and 6:

1. rain-forest: a habitat where it rains almost every day

2. emergent: top layer of the rain forest where only the tallest trees can reach

3. canopy: second top layer, where most trees reach and most animals avoid predators

4. understory: third lower layer, it is a cool, shady place where plants grow large leaves

5. forest floor: bottom layer which is very dark and wet

WEEK- 1:
1. Ray: a line with one endpoint and goes on forever in one direction
2. line: a straight path of points that continues without end in both directions
3. line segment: A part of a line with two endpoints.
4. point: an exact location or on a line.
5. Parallel lines: lines that never intersect and are always the same distance apart

 WEEK-2:
1.  angle: a shape formed by two line segments or rays that share the same endpoint
2. right angle: an angle that can form a square corner
3. acute angle: is less than a right angle
4. obtuse angle: is greater than a right angle and less than a straight angle
5. vertex: the point where two or more lines meet

WEEK-3 and 4
1. Parallel lines: lines that never intersect and are always the same distance apart
2. Perpendicular lines: lines that intersect and form right angles
3. Straight angle: an angle that forms a straight line
4. Intersect: to cross or meet each other at one or more points

Week-5:
1. polygon: a closed two-dimensional shape formed by three or more straight sides that are line segments.
2. two-dimensional figure: a shape or figure that lies flat on a plane and has two measures, length and width.
3. dimension: a measure in one direction.
4. quadrilateral: a plane figure with four sides and four vertices.
5. parallelogram: a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides and 2 pairs of sides of equal length.

1. scalene: a triangle with no sides of equal lengths
2. isosceles: a triangle with two sides of equal lengths
3. equilateral: a triangle with all sides of equal lengths
4. trapezoid: a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides
5. rhombus: a quadrilateral with sides of equal lengths but no right angles

3. cell:  the smallest unit of living matter

Week-3:
1. oxygen: A gas in the air, needed by most living things to turn food into energy
2. organism: Any living thing that carries out the five basic life functions
3. organ system: a group of organs working together to carry out life functions
4. bacteria: one-celled organisms
5. microorganism:  organisms that are too small to be seen with the eye

Week-4:
1. reproduce: to make more of one's own kind
2. energy: the ability to do work or change matter
3. photosynthesis: the process in which plants use sunlight,water and carbon dioxide to make food
4. carbon dioxide: a gas found in air that is needed by plants to live
5. chlorophyll: a green substance found in plant cells that uses sunlight to make food.

Week-5:
1. muscular system: organ system made up of muscles that move our bones
2. contract: a shortening or tensing of a muscle
3. tendons: a flexible and inelastic strong tissue attaching a muscle to a bone
4. bicep: a muscle found in the front upper part of the arm that pulls the arm toward you.
5. tricep: a three part muscle found in the back of the upper arm that pulls the arm away from you.
